Abstract :

Objective The purpose of this study was to evaluate satisfaction of patients, students, faculty members
and related staffs at the Dental Hospital, Chulalongkorn University with the çOne Stop OPDé system.

Materials and methods Faculty members, 5th and 6th year dental students, related staffs, 393
patients answered open-ended and closed-ended questionnaires, and 50 more patients were also
interviewed. The data was collected from October 2005 to February 2006.

Results Most patients would recommend others to come to the hospital (97%). Most patients were
satisfied with multiple examinations performed by faculty members of different specialties (93%)
and no cost panoramic radiography (94%). Dental students preferred the new OPD system (59%).
However, most students were confused by the treatment plans provided by faculty members of
different specialties (66%). The related faculty members and staffs preferred the old OPD system.
It was found that higher work load and work atmosphere of related faculty members are significantly
correlated with the level of stress. Most of the related faculty members (57%) suggested the new OPD
system should be improved.

Conclusion Within the limitations of our study, patients and dental students were mostly satisfied
with the new OPD system but related teachers and dental staff preferred the old OPD system.
