Abstract :

Fused teeth are rare occurrence. Careful management of fused teeth is essential because
abnormal morphology can predispose a tooth to periodontal disease and pulp necrosis. This case report
presented the endodontic and periodontic management of supernumerary tooth fused with the right
maxillary first molar. The pulp chambers of the maxillary first molar and supernumerary tooth were
accessed. Clinical examination showed joined pulp chambers and root canals. A conventional
endodontic treatment was performed. Anatomical groove of fused roots between the maxillary first
molar and supernumerary tooth was sealed with glass ionomer cement. A 1 year follow-up showed
satisfactory healing of periapical pathosis and healthy gingival tissue.
